- A body of water found on the Earth's surface and typically confined to a narrow topographic depression down which it flows and transports rock particles, sediment, debris, and dissolved particles
- Also referred to as rivers, creeks, brooks, kills, and runs
- Source or Headwater
- The beginning point of a river
- Terminus or Mouth
- The ending point of a river
