Exercise Objective

To assess the Bankfull cross sectional area estimate extracted from the 9-207 data.

Exercise Explanation

  1. Bankfull Discharge was given as 23,639 cfs
  2. Graphically, Bankfull Discharge of 23,639 cfs intersected the plotted data regression line at a Bankfull cross sectional area of approximately 6000 sq ft along the 9-207 data points and of approximately 7500 sq ft along the regressed data line.
  3. Mathmatically, Bankfull Discharge of 23,639 cfs inserted into the regression equation on the graph resulted in a Bankfull cross sectional area value of 7298 sq ft.
