Exercises to Examine Classifications
In the next set of five exercises maps and images will be provided that show a Reach located between points A and B. In each exercise record how various classification schemes would categorize the river Reach. The following schemes will be used:
- Young, Mature and Old by Davis
- Stream Order by Strahler and Horton
- Straight, Meandering and Braided by Leopold, Wolman, Miller and Schumm
- Source, Transfer, and Depositional by Montgomery and Buffington
