Rosgen Valley Type Exercise 3

Exercise Objective

To apply Rosgen Level I Valley imagery analysis to classify Valley type. Note that two Valley types are shown in this image at points A and B.

Exercise Process

  1. Examine the Valley imagery directly in this FGM Module slide or download and examine in ImageJ software.
  2. Consider the shape of the watershed terrain surrounding the channel at points A and B.
  3. Compare the terrain pattern to the illustration and descriptions given in the earlier Valley type key of this FGM Module Section.
  4. Select a Valley type I to XI for this slide's two Valley images.
