Rosgen Level IV

Rosgen level 4

Rosgen Level 4 classification is a described as a validation level for Stream types earlier characterized in Level 2 and 3. Inputs into this characterization are:

  • Sediment Measurements including bedload and suspended sediment
  • Stream flow Measurements including hydraulics, resistance, and hydrographs
  • Stability in the Aggradation and Degradation spectrum
  • Sediment change in storage and size distribution
  • Bank Erosion rates
  • Time trends regarding stability

Level 4 analysis is the most exhaustive field assessment of the system, and is not covered in detail in this FGM Module.
